The SEND Code of Practice is a government document that contains:
- the legal requirements that must be followed without exception
- statutory guidance that muct be follwed by law unless there is a good reason not to
It explains the duties of local authorities, health bodies and colleges to provide for those with special educational needs under part 3 of the Children and Families Act (2014)
Mencap and the Department for Education have jointly developed easy read guides to the changes to the special educational needs and disability support:
